Notorious Fuji weather could factor into 300km race

The weather conditions at Fuji Speedway are notorious for throwing up massive thunderstorms and heavy rain, and some forecasts are calling for exactly that for this weekend’s Autobacs Super GT Series round, the Fuji GT 300km Race.

Weather.com‘s forecast for the race weekend calls for temperatures reaching as high as 30°C for Saturday’s practice and qualifying sessions, and 31°C for the race on Sunday – but 80 to 90% chance of precipitation, and scattered thunderstorms in the morning. Crucially, there is a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms on the afternoon of the race.

The forecast from Tenki.jp seems much more conservative, though – calling for no more than a ten percent chance of rain at any point during Saturday or Sunday, sunny with no hint of clouds, and temperatures reaching as high as 31 to 32°C during the afternoons.

It’s similar from the forecasters at Yahoo! Japan as well – sunny conditions, predicting zero precipitation on Saturday, but twenty percent chance of rain on Sunday.

All three forecasts call for one thing in common: High humidity, and when the sun is out, high temperatures and UV levels across the board – so for any readers in attendance, please remember to hydrate, wear sunscreen, take umbrellas rain or shine, and have a splendid time at the track~
