Entry List: Super GT Official Test – Fuji Speedway

The GT Association (GTA), promoter and sanctioning body of the Autobacs Super GT Series, published the entry list for the second official Super GT pre-season test on March 25th and 26th at Fuji Speedway.

In total, 44 cars and close to 100 drivers will take part over two days of testing at Fuji Speedway, which hosts the second round of the 2017 Super GT championship, the prestigious Fuji 500km, on May 4th.

Notes

Kazuki Nakajima will not take part in this test, and his place in the #36 au TOM’s LC500 will be taken by team director/third driver Daisuke Ito. Ito is already scheduled to run the Fuji 500km in place of Nakajima due to the latter’s commitments in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Yuji Kunimoto will not take part in this test for Lexus Team WedsSport Bandoh, and he will be replaced in the #19 WedsSport Advan LC500 by Kenta Yamashita.

Due to racing commitments in the opening round of the VLN Endurance Series at the Nürburgring this weekend, the following drivers will not participate in the test: Jörg Müller (BMW Team Studie), Takamitsu Matsui (VivaC Team Tsuchiya), Sven Müller (D’Station Racing), and Naoya Gamou (K2 R&D LEON Racing).

We wish Matsui, Gamou, Jörg, Sven, their competitors, and fellow team members a safe and successful race weekend in Germany.

Replacing Matsui and Yamashita in the #25 VivaC Toyota 86 MC will be 2016 Porsche Carrera Cup Japan champion Tsubasa Kondo, who joins chief engineer and part-time driver Takeshi Tsuchiya.

Replacing Sven Müller in the #33 D’Station Porsche 911 GT3-R will be 2015 GT300 Drivers’ Champion André Couto, who left Gainer at the end of 2016.

Former Team Taisan SARD driver Yuya Motojima will test the Team JLOC #87 Shop Channel Lamborghini Huracán GT3 this weekend, having driven the #88 ManePa Lamborghini Huracán GT3 for JLOC at Okayama. Koji Yamanishi and Tsubasa Takahashi will split third driver duties in the #88 ManePa Lamborghini GT3 this weekend, switching over from the #87 Shop Channel Lamborghini GT3.

Hiroshi Hamaguchi returns to Cars Tokai Dream28 as the third driver of the #2 Syntium Apple Lotus Evora MC for this weekend’s test.

Junichiro Yamashita, who drove for Team Mach in 2016, returns to the team this weekend as the third driver of the #5 Mach Syaken Toyota 86 MC GTNET.

Veteran Super Taikyu racer Taiyo Iida will join Dijon Racing as the third driver for the #48 Nissan GT-R GT3 in this weekend’s test.

Finally, R’Qs Motor Sports (#22 R’Qs Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3) will not take part in this second official pre-season test.
