2018 Fuji GT 500km Race: Weekend Schedule

There will soon be a dawn of a brand-new endurance racing tradition in the Autobacs Super GT Series – on August 4 & 5, Fuji International Speedway plays host to the Fuji GT 500 Mile Race!

It’s the continuation of the event that began as the Japan Special GT Cup, later the Fuji GT 300km Race, and the first time the Fuji 500 Mile Race has been held since 1992.

Here are the times for every session of the 2018 Fuji 500 Miles.


FUJI GT 500 MILE RACE – WEEKEND SCHEDULE

Saturday, 4 August

  • 8:40 – 10:25: Practice (1 hour, 45 minutes)
  • 14:35 – 15:10: Qualifying Session 1 (15 minutes x 2)
  • 15:20 – 15:48: Qualifying Session 2 (10 minutes x 2)

Sunday, 5 August

  • 11:55 – 12:15: Warm-Up (20 minutes)
  • 13:30 – 18:35: Race (177 laps)

The support bill for the Fuji 500 Miles will include two pivotal races in both the FIA F4 Japanese Championship, and the Porsche Carrera Cup Japan. Rounds 7 and 8 of the F4 Japanese Championship begin at 13:25 JST Saturday afternoon before Super GT qualifying, and 8:00 JST Sunday morning. Rounds 9 and 10 of the PCCJ begin at 16:20 JST Saturday afternoon, and 9:15 JST Sunday morning.

UNITED STATES – EASTERN

  • 10:55 PM – 11:15 PM: Warm-Up (20 minutes)

Sunday, 5 August

UNITED STATES – PACIFIC

With Jenson Button fighting for the GT500 Drivers’ Championship, and Jann Mardenborough being a strong pick to win the Fuji 500 Miles outright – plus GT300 drivers Sean Walkinshaw, Richard Lyons, and Richard Bradley – there’s a strong crop of British drivers that will warrant big viewership:

CONTINENTAL EUROPE

Italy’s Ronnie Quintarelli bids for the season sweep of Fuji for NISMO, Sweden’s Felix Rosenqvist is searching for his first Super GT victory, and France’s Jules Gounon makes his one-off debut in the GT300 class for EIcars Bentley.
