In a tumultuous time for Formula 3 racing over in Europe, the All-Japan Formula 3 Championship has remained intact in its structure over the last decade, and now it embarks on its 40th season in 2018 as the stepping stone to the highest levels of Japanese motorsport.
Ten former GT500 champions in Super GT – including the reigning co-champions Ryo Hirakawa and Nick Cassidy – and seven former Japanese Top Formula Champions have all won the All-Japan Formula 3 Championship, and in 2018, there is a strong class of elite young drivers who could add their name to a prestigious roll of honour.
