On Wednesday, the GT Association (GTA), promoter and sanctioning body of the Autobacs Super GT Series, released the Balance of Performance (BoP) tables for the upcoming fifth round of the season, the Fuji GT 500 Mile Race at Fuji Speedway.
The Balance of Performance for the GT300 class is administered by the GTA in association with the Stéphane Ratel Organisation (SRO) for the FIA GT3 category cars, with all other BoP adjustments handled by the GTA.

On Monday, the GT Association (GTA), promoter of the Autobacs Super GT Series, released the entry list for the fifth round of the 2018 season – Super GT’s newest endurance racing tradition, the Fuji GT 500 Mile Race.
All 44 cars and an even 100 drivers are entered into the Fuji 500 Miles, with 12 third drivers entered into the GT300 class for the biggest race of the season on 4-5 August. Here’s how the entry list shakes down:
On Saturday’s press conference for the media held before qualifying for the Suzuka 1000km, GT Association (GTA) chairman Masaaki Bandoh officially confirmed that the Fuji GT 500 Mile Race will become the new endurance round of the Autobacs Super GT Series when it is first run on August.
This news was first reported on August 9, shortly the Japan Automobile Federation (JAF) 2018 motorsports calendar was released, with the Fuji GT 500 Mile Race appearing on the August 4-5 weekend that was confirmed by Super GT on July 27. At the time, no official announcement had been made by Super GT regarding the distance of the event, but on Saturday, Bandoh-san told the press about the new August endurance race at Fuji.

Where one tradition ends, another will soon begin.
On Wednesday, the Japan Automobile Federation (JAF) released their first provisional calendar for 2018 motorsports activities, and confirmed that the fifth round of the 2018 Autobacs Super GT Series at Fuji Speedway on August 4-5 will be contested over 500 miles (or 800 miles) as the “Fuji GT 500 Mile Race”.
