On Monday, the GT Association (GTA), promoter and sanctioning body of the Autobacs Super GT Series, released the Balance of Performance (BoP) tables for the upcoming sixth round of the season, the Sugo GT 300km Race at Sportsland Sugo.
These changes include an update to the minimum weight of the GT500 class Honda NSX-GT.
The Balance of Performance for the GT300 class is administered by the GTA in association with the Stéphane Ratel Organisation (SRO) for the FIA GT3 category cars, with all other BoP adjustments handled by the GTA.

The attention of Super GT fans around the world was drawn Friday to the famous Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba, Japan, site of the 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon.
It was here where Honda were the first to announce their full GT500 programme for the 2018 season, headlined by the arrival of Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button at Team Kunimitsu, and Takuya Izawa moving back to Autobacs Racing Team Aguri (ARTA).

If any of the six Lexus LC500s in the GT500 field win this weekend’s Fuji GT 300km Race, not only will Lexus have set the record for the most consecutive wins to open a season by a GT500 manufacturer, they’ll also tie the all-time premier class record of six wins in a row, with a streak starting in the second race of last year’s Motegi GT Grand Final.
The current record for the most consecutive GT500 victories is held by Honda, and the first-generation NSX-GT, which racked up six consecutive victories from 1998 to 1999 (plus one more in a non-championship All-Star event after the 1998 season), and we felt it only fitting to take a look back at Honda’s memorable winning streak – and look back to the dawn of Super GT’s first golden age.

GT Association (GTA) chairman Masaaki Bandoh gave his customary pre-race press conference to the media on Sunday before the fourth round of the 2017 Autobacs Super GT Series at Sportsland Sugo.
Among the topics discussed at Chairman Bandoh’s press conference were the recent Balance of Performance adjustments in GT500, the speed of the GT300 class cars, and most notably of all – a glimpse into what the 2018 Autobacs Super GT Series calendar will look like, including the future of Super GT at Suzuka Circuit.
