Sekiguchi puts WedsSport LC500 on top in second day of testing

Yuhi Sekiguchi and the #19 WedsSport Advan Lexus LC500 topped the time sheets in the second day of Official Testing for the Autobacs Super GT Series on Sunday.

With favorable conditions in the morning session, Sekiguchi went on to complete a total of 139 laps on the day, 265 in total over both days, to set the fastest outright time of the two-day testing period in the Yokohama-clad Lexus.

Kenta Yamashita set for GT500 debut at Fuji 500km with Bandoh

Lexus Team WedsSport Bandoh have officially appointed Kenta Yamashita to drive the #19 WedsSport Advan Lexus LC500 in the 2017 Fuji GT 500km Race on May 4.

Yamashita, one of the top prospects of the Toyota Young Driver Program (TDP), and the reigning All-Japan Formula Three Champion, will make his GT500 debut in place of regular Lexus Team WedsSport Bandoh driver, Yuji Kunimoto, who is making his FIA World Endurance Championship debut at the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps on May 6.

Yuji Kunimoto joins Toyota Gazoo Racing for Le Mans 24 Hours

Toyota Gazoo Racing confirmed the lineup for their third Toyota TS050 Hybrid prototype that will run this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. Joining French veterans Stéphane Sarrazin and Nicolas Lapierre will be 26-year-old Super GT superstar, and defending Japanese Super Formula Champion, Yuji Kunimoto.

Kunimoto will join fellow Super GT and Super Formula colleague Kazuki Nakajima, and an internationally-renowned cast of supporting drivers, for the 85th Grand Prix of Endurance on June 17-18, as Toyota looks to capture the one prize that has continuously eluded the company with escalating misfortune – an overall Le Mans victory.

Kamui Kobayashi joins Lexus Team WedsSport Bandoh for Suzuka 1000km

One of the most prolific and beloved racing drivers from Japan will make his Autobacs Super GT Series debut this year, as Kamui Kobayashi has joined Lexus Team WedsSport Bandoh as the third driver of the #19 WedsSport Advan Lexus LC500 in the 46th International Suzuka 1000km.

Kobayashi’s Super GT debut will come as part of a busy 2016 campaign where he will represent Toyota Gazoo Racing on the grand stage of the FIA World Endurance Championship, while embarking on his third season in the Japanese Super Formula Championship with KCMG.
