Bentley factory racer Steven Kane testing with EIcars TTO

EIcars Bentley TTO (Teramoto Technical Office) have brought on Bentley Motorsport factory racing driver Steven Kane for a private test at Fuji International Speedway on Wednesday.

The 37-year-old Ulsterman, hailing from Newfounards, will be driving the #117 EIcars Bentley Continental GT3 regularly driven by Yuji Ide and Ryohei Sakaguchi, as the team prepares to return to action on August 6 at the same venue for the Fuji GT 300km Race.

EIcars Bentley TTO receiving additional factory support

At the most recent two-day official test for the Autobacs Super GT Series, EIcars Bentley TTO (Teramoto Technical Office) received a much-welcome gift in the form of additional engineering support from Bentley Motorsport in Europe.

That news was confirmed by lead driver Yuji Ide last Thursday, before a productive two days of testing for one of Super GT’s brand-new teams for 2017.

Kazuyoshi Hoshino honoured at Suzuka on 70th birthday

During the second day of the Autobacs Super GT Series official test at Suzuka Circuit, a surprise inter-session ceremony was held to honour one of Japanese motorsports’ all-time legends – as Kazuyoshi Hoshino, founder and CEO of Impul, celebrated his 70th birthday.

Joining thousands of fans on hand for the test, were GT Association chairman Masaaki Bandoh, and the rest of the team of the #12 Calsonic Impul Nissan GT-R including drivers Hironobu Yasuda and Jann Mardenborough.

NISMO leads the way at Suzuka official test

The Autobacs Super GT Series conducted its fourth and final in-season official test at Suzuka Circuit on June 30 and July 1, in preparation for next month’s Suzuka 1000km: The Final on August 27.

Over the course of two days, four sessions, and over ten hours of testing with conditions that ranged from a full wet start to a fine and dry finish, it was NISMO’s #23 Motul Autech Nissan GT-R, piloted by Tsugio Matsuda and Ronnie Quintarelli, which set the best time of both days of the test.

Quintarelli’s best time from Day 1 on Friday was followed up by the #19 WedsSport Advan Lexus LC500 of Yuhi Sekiguchi, Yuji Kunimoto, and Kamui Kobayashi setting the best time in Day 2 on Saturday.
