The final of the big three manufacturer fan festivals in Japan brings us back to Fuji Speedway, home circuit of the Toyota Motor Corporation, for the Toyota Gazoo Racing Festival this Sunday.
It’s a celebration of Toyota’s successes across the world of motorsport – their winning return to the FIA World Rally Championship, a solid season in the World Endurance Championship, and of course, winning Japan’s two biggest championships – the Autobacs Super GT Series and the Japanese Super Formula Championship.

On Friday, the GT Association (GTA) held the third annual Super GT Heroes show from the Westin Hotel Tokyo, a postseason awards banquet to commemorate the accomplishments of the teams and drivers in the 2017 Autobacs Super GT Series.
The awards kept coming in for GT500 Drivers’ Champions Ryo Hirakawa and Nick Cassidy, GT300 Drivers’ Champions Nobuteru Taniguchi and Tatsuya Kataoka, and the Lexus Team KeePer TOM’s and Goodsmile Racing with Team UKYO squads as they were presented with their official championship trophies from the GT Association.

The second of the big three manufacturer fan festivals in Japan is the Honda Racing Thanks Day, which will be held this weekend, on 3 December, at the Twin Ring Motegi circuit in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan.
Honda’s top stars from the Autobacs Super GT Series and the Japanese Super Formula Championship will be joined by top Honda riders from MotoGP and the world of Superbike racing, Formula 1 drivers Jenson Button and Stoffel Vandoorne, WTCC drivers including Super GT legend Ryo Michigami, and the star of the show – Indianapolis 500 winner, Takuma Sato.

ZF Friedrichshafen AG, title sponsors of Super GT’s awards for the best team of mechanics in the series, have presented the ZF Award for Best Mechanics of the Year to Goodsmile Racing with Team UKYO, the GT300 champion team for 2017.
It is the second time in four seasons that Goodsmile Racing have won the season-long ZF Award, led by team director Ukyo Katayama, and chief mechanic Satoshi Kohno.
